This presentation will review Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder among combat veterans, with special attention to the recurring nightmares that are a key manifestation of PTSD. The neurochemistry of PTSD nightmares will be reviewed as well as the ways in which these frightening dreams interfere with healthy sleep and dream cycles. Specific programs for working with nightmares will be discussed, and an experiential session will introduce participants to a step-by-step procedure they can use when working with clients reporting recurring nightmares, whether or not they are PTSD-related. These procedures are discussed in the new paperback edition of Haunted by Combat: Understanding PTSD in Combat Veterans by Daryl Paulson and Stanley Krippner. October 7, 2010, 7pm. Kirkland, WA.
