| Anne Lucas | alucasma@hotmail.com | |
Anne Lucas took a circuitous path to her work as a therapist. Her first career spanned 18 years in the building industry in Southern California moving from accounting clerk to Controller/CFO where she gained an expertise in business and accounting, team building, group and organizational dynamics and structures. In 1990 the California building industry crashed and Anne moved to Washington State where in 1993 she made the decision to embrace change and headed back to school to finish a long overdue Bachelors degree. Either by a cosmic accident or intervention, she stumbled into the LIOS program, graduating with her Bachelors in 1995 and completing her Masters in 1997. Anne did her internship at Fairfax Psychiatric which led to her being hired a family therapist for the next three years in the hospital setting working primarily with children, adolescents and their families. Her relationship with the psychiatrists on staff at Fairfax opened another door for her when they invited her to join their expanding clinic practice. In 1998 Anne joined The Evergreen Clinic where she completed her externship and where she continues to practice, working with a wide range of mental illness and individual, couple and family issues. In 2009, she completed the training and requirements to become a State Approved Supervisor in Washington for licensure candidates and began supervising graduates. In 2006, Anne was drawn to focus on couples work – premarital, marital, divorce and remarriage. Like most therapists, Anne recognized the emotional aftermath of divorce and the echoes it can have through post-divorce relationships for all family members. She found an answer in a healthier way to divorce through Collaborative Law and in 2007 she joined the Collaborative Law community as a Family Specialist. Her expertise in this role and the community continues to grow. She is part of an interdisciplinary training group - The Seattle Collaborative Law Training Group - whose purpose is developing curriculum and trainings for collaborative professionals in the United States and Canada. Anne is currently Vice President on the King County Collaborative Law Board of Directors and will be the first mental health professional to serve as President in 2011-2012. In 2011 Anne will again be expanding her practice, this time as a mediator. She was invited to join Alhadeff and Forbes Mediation Affiliates where she will be mediating family, medical, construction and partnership disputes. | Mark Mirante | kklam@earthlink.net
Mark Mirante has been an individual, couples, and family therapist for over 23 years. He has worked with a great range of socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, physical health, gender and sexual diversity. For the past 17 + years he has provided supervision and clinical consultation for mental health Counselors, Family Systems therapists, social workers, case managers and students of all the above disciplines (school, agency based and graduate programs). He now works as a therapist, clinical supervisor and manager at Southwest Youth and Family Services. He has coordinated various programs provided by SWYFS and has managed/supervised the internship/practicum program since its beginning there. He also has supervised the application of the evidenced-based Multi-systemic Therapy and Functional Family Therapy approaches for 8 years at SWYFS. Mark has also been in private practice in Seattle for the past 3 years where his clientele are couples, and adolescents with their families. He also provides supervision for therapists seeking licensure, and consultation for licensed therapists. Mark received his BA in Far East Area Studies and Sociology from Sophia University International College in Tokyo, Japan in 1976, a Masters in Business Administration from San Jose State University in 1981, and a Masters in Psychology from Antioch University Seattle in 1987. Concurrent with his studies in psychology and systemically oriented individual and family therapy at Antioch, he completed training at the first US northwestern region AAMFT certified clinical training program in marriage and family therapy - a 2 year program provided by Presbyterian Counseling Service (now Samaritan Center of Puget Sound) in 1988. Since grad school Mark has been extremely interested in the intricacies of human communication and what it takes to assist others to truly know their true value in the world and to communicate that to the people important to them. The primary focus of his ongoing study has been of Ericksonian (Milton) oriented psychotherapies (which includes working with natural trance states, perceiving relationally, and attending to subtle communication), Narrative Therapy, Hakomi body-oriented psychotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Emotionally Focus Therapy and approaches to psychotherapy that employ what we are learning from research on Attachment Theory. He, also, is fascinated with how therapists learn to use themselves most effectively to make the greatest beneficial impact. He loves to help new therapists improve on their ability to do so. His stance is similar to that of the research that has found that it is the humble relationship with one's client that is the most important. Keeping this constantly in mind, he draws a great deal of guidance from Sue Johnson and Lee Greenberg’s teaching and attachment researchers on how primary emotional expression and genuine connection is immensely important in the healing of wounded relationships. Mark has throughout his career found solace and satisfaction helping people in distress with seemingly few resources who struggle to maintain hope. Knowing that his clients are experiencing what his own parents did during their childhood has maintained his desire to help others in great need. Mark’s greatest joy is his 25 and 22 year old daughters and his relationship with them as their father. Although he and their mother recently ended their 29 year relationship (27 married) they are congenially and collaboratively providing supportive and loving support and guidance to them as young adults whenever it is needed."
