Scholarship for Multicultural Leaders

Deadline: December 2, 2011 for Spring 2012 Entry and June 1, 2012 for Fall 2012 Entry
Requirements: Completed application to LIOS College along with complete scholarship application

Application

LIOS Graduate College is committed to creating an intentionally diverse community of co-learners in which a variety of cultures and backgrounds are represented.  For forty years, LIOS has successfully developed leaders that serve their communities in numerous ways.  It is our intention to continually expand that leadership development in support and service of the multitude of communities that make up our world.

Our students and alumni increasingly depend on understanding and navigating diverse communities within the United States and global demographics.  This understanding requires exposure to multiple historiographic contexts and diverse ideas that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries.  The fostering of our students’ ability to work effectively with others and embrace diversity is a central learning objective. We seek to encourage emerging and established leaders from broad cultural backgrounds to develop a signature presence and style that is in line with their cultural context and community norms. We believe that leadership is not a “one size fits all” proposition, and know that the health of our diverse communities calls for leadership that can access a broad range of approaches and styles.
Specifically, our goal is to offer access to our programs for underrepresented students of color and ethnic backgrounds and to support qualified students seeking admission through the offer of scholarships at levels that both encourage participation in the program and meet the financial needs of students accepting admission.
