About
For 40 years Saybrook University has been home to some of the world’s leading experts in complementary medicine and person-centered care. Their work combines the best in alternative medicine techniques with rigorous cutting edge medicine to develop new best practices in health and wellness.
In the new millennium, Saybrook decided to take the next step to make this expertise and knowledge more accessible to you. In 2009 Saybrook partnered with James Gordon, M.D., a pioneer in the field of integrative health and the founder of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, D.C.
Gordon’s expertise is widely recognized: he recently served as Chairman of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy. He also served as the first Chair of the Program Advisory Council of the National Institutes of Health’s Office of Alternative Medicine, and is a former member of the Cancer Advisory Panel on Complementary and Alternative Medicine of the NIH. His work on trauma relief with civilian populations in war and disaster zones (like Haiti, Bosnia, New Orleans, and Israel/Palestine) has been chronicled in the New York Times and CNN.
The result of this partnership is the Graduate College of Mind-Body Medicine, which offers the only fully accredited graduate degrees in Mind-Body Medicine the U.S.
The college combines the Center for Mind-Body Medicine’s cutting-edge curriculum with Saybrook’s traditional emphasis on student-centered learning. The result is a career-focused program that connects you with leaders in the field. Saybrook’s class structure combines distance learning with intensive residential conferences, so that students can live and work anywhere in the world while getting their degrees.
