 In addition to teaching, I am a licensed psychologist in private practice. I also work in a multidisciplinary pain medicine clinic in northern California, where my clinical focus is mind-body therapies, behavioral medicine, and applied psychophysiology for chronic pain patients. I've been BCIA certified since 1987.

My research interests include: Outcome assessment of programs in personal development; Personality changes accompanying successful self-regulation training; The impact of coping skills training on health behaviors; Effective learning strategies - skill-development and cognitive modeling; The impact of personality and information processing styles on learning; The influence of comportment, competence, and flow experience on personal transformation.

My expertise in research methods encompasses quantitative and qualitative methods. I have an extensive research background in a variety of settings over the past 25 years, including university research, private consulting, and education. I am particularly interested in developing a person-centered research model using case-based approaches that respects the uniqueness, authenticity, and sacredness of human experience.

As a graduate of Saybrook, I have found that I can be of assistance to students in managing courses, research, and essays toward completing their dissertation in an expedient and strategic way.
