Upcoming Presentations and Public Addresses
Dr. Schneider has lectured frequently at both national and international venues. These venues include the American Psychological Association (1987-2OO4); the first Soviet-American Humanistic Psychology Conference, Moscow (1991); the Lithuanian Association for Humanistic Psychology, University of Vilnius (1992/1996); Stanford University Medical Center (1995); Duquesne University (as visiting scholar) (1996), Seattle University (1992), Esalen Institute (1995), the Ernest Becker Foundation, Seattle (1992,1996, 2004); the Pacific News Service,San Francisco (1995); Lucasfilms /Skywalker Ranch, Novato, CA (1997); The Cleveland Museum of Art (1998), The Madness and Creativity Conference, Santa Fe, NM (1999), the International Network for Personal Meaning Conference, Vancouver, B.C. (2000, 2002, 2004), The Center for Humanistic Studies (2004) (as visiting lecturer), and Seattle University (2004). He will be the yearly visiting scholar for the East European Association for Existential Psychotherapy (a 5 nation organization) in Birstonas, Lithuania, in September of 2005, and Distinguished Visiting Faculty at the Colorado School of Professional of Psychology in Colorado Springs, in January of 2006. In August, 2006, Dr. Schneider was featured conducting Existential therapy for the APA (American Psychological Association) Video Series “Systems of Psychotherapy” currently available as a DVD online at www.apa.org/videos. Dr. Schneider has also sponsored, with psychotherapy.net, the release of a new DVD of his (and colleagues') interview with Rollo May in 1987. The DVD is called "Rollo May on Psychotherapy" and is available at www.psychotherapy.net. Currently, Dr. Schneider is co-authoring (with Saybrook alumna, Orah Krug)a volume on "Existential-Humanistic Therapy" for the American Psychological Association Monograph Series covering the major therapeutic orientations in the field. Recent presentations included a workshop on Existential-Integrative therapy and a discussion/video presentation of the above DVD featuring Rollo May at the Humanistic Psychotherapies conference in August 2007, as well as a presentation at the APA convention on positive psychology and humanistic psychology. In October, 2007, Dr. Schneider presented at the Non-Dual Wisdom Conference at the Calif. Inst. of Integral Studies, as well as at the Saybrook Colloquium in Los Angeles. He will be presenting with colleagues at the upcoming Existential-Humanistic Institute First Annual Conference, Nov. 9-11, 2007. In Jan. 2008, Dr. Schneider will again be a distinguished faculty presenter at the COSPP (now called University of the Rockies) in Colorado Springs, and in July, 2008, Dr. Schneider is a featured presenter in Toronto Canada.

Current Projects and Professional Activities
Kirk J. Schneider, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and leading spokesperson for contemporary humanistic psychology. He is an adjunct faculty member at Saybrook Graduate School, the California Institute of Integral Studies, and the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology, and is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (through Divisions 32 [Humanistic], 42 [Independent Practice], and 12 [Clinical]). Dr. Schneider is on the editorial boards of The Journal of Humanistic Psychology, the Humanistic Psychologist, Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice (2002-2004), the Review of Existential Psychiatry and Psychology, Person-Centered and Experiential Psychotherapies, the Society for Laingian Studies, The International Journal of Existential Psychology and Psychotherapy, and the Psychotherapy Patient. He is also past president and founding member of the newly formed Existential-Humanistic Institute (ehinstitute.org) of San Francisco. This is a training institute in existential-humanistic psychotherapy that holds workshops for Saybrook Graduate School and provides group case consultation. Dr. Schneider has published over 70 articles and chapters and has authored/edited five books—The Paradoxical Self: Toward an Understanding of Our Contradictory Nature (Plenum, 1990; Humanity Books, 1999, paperback); Horror and the Holy: Wisdom-teachings of the Monster Tale (Open Court, 1993); The Psychology of Existence: An Integrative, Clinical Perspective (co-authored with Rollo May, McGraw-Hill, 1995, currently being translated into Russian), The Handbook of Humanistic Psychology: Leading Edges in Theory, Research, and Practice (2001, Sage Publishing Co., published in paperback in 2002), and Rediscovery of Awe: Splendor, Mystery, and the Fluid Center of Life (June, 2004, Paragon House—www.paragonhouse.com). In March 1998, Dr. Schneider wrote the lead article in the American Psychologist entitled, “Toward a Science of the Heart: Romanticism and the Revival of Psychology,” and he completed (with Larry Leitner) the chapter on Humanistic psychotherapies for the Encyclopedia of Psychotherapy (Academic Press, 2002). Dr. Schneider also wrote the chapter on “Existential-Humanistic Psychotherapies” for the second edition of the widely acclaimed anthology “Essential Psychotherapies” (2003) edited by Alan Gurman and Stanley Messer. Dr. Schneider’s most recent honors include listing in Marquis “Who’s Who in America”, “Who’s Who in the World” (2004), and the Rollo May Award for “outstanding and independent pursuit of new frontiers in humanistic psychology” awarded by the Division of Humanistic Psychology of the American Psychological Association (presented at the APA annual convention, 2004). In August 2005 Dr. Schneider was appointed Editor of the Journal of Humanistic Psychology.
