The College's MA Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy licesnsing specialization program offers the current year educational requirements needed to sit for the California Marriage and Family Therapy license examination. The program complies with the requirements of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (sections 4980.37 and 4980.40).
The program's approach emerges out of the knowledge that there isn't just one kind of family, one kind of culture, or one good way to raise children. The world is filled with families celebrating non-traditional gender roles, multiple cultural influences, and new technologies that have the potential to bring them together and drive them apart. There are also families struggling with divorce and remarriage, with addition, with poverty, or with a parent in prison.
The College's MFT program meets that need by training therapists who are culturally competent, familiar with multiple approaches to wellness, and supportive of the diverse ways that families connect and flourish in the 21st century.
