Saybrook's Residential Programs in Seattle (LIOS)
Saybrook’s Seattle Programs are our most residentially-focused degrees, meeting periodically over long weekends. This process creates a close community of students and teachers that evaluates and strengthens itself and its members, both professionally and personally. It’s a unique learning experience, unavailable anywhere else, that has been producing local, regional, and national leaders for over 40 years.
We offer Seattle Residential degrees in:
- MA Psychology, specializing in Counseling – a degree focused on systems counseling and family therapy, preparing you for an outstanding career as a licensed mental health counselor or therapist in Washington State and other areas.
- MA Organizational Systems, specializing in Leadership and Organization Development – a degree focused on the human side of organizational development, emphasizing systems theory and sustainability, preparing you for a career as a manager, consultant, trainer, or executive coach.
These two-year programs are experiential learning at its best. The faculty-to-student ratio is kept deliberately low: 1:15 in the first year, 1:8 in the second. Modular course work takes you out of known contexts and relationships, while immersing you in an enriching and transformational education experience with a diverse student body.

You won’t just sit through lectures or read books – you’ll apply everything you learn in real-time situations and real-life relationships, and leave with the experience, knowledge, and confidence to be a change agent for people and organizations.
Graduates emerge ready to be counselors, consultants, and managers wherever their passion takes them: from some of the biggest companies in the U.S. to neighborhood groups doing vital work for their community. Your dreams, your aspirations, and your “signature presence” make all the difference.

As a student in the LIOS Leadership and Organization Development program, Jeff McAuliffe’s intention was to learn how to work with the human side of organizations. He was able to make a career shift and accepted a job at Boeing after graduation. “I worked at Boeing for 10 years. Boeing was amazing; it was like a candy story with so many different projects and opportunities in Organization Development. I was quickly recognized as being an effective consultant because of the skills I learned at LIOS,” explains Jeff. Since then he’s consulted for companies ranging from the Swedish Medical Center to Toyota, and now has an external consulting practice with a focus on the healthcare industry. He's also a faculty member at LIOS, where he helps others develop the skills he used to succeed.
