Earn an MA in Organizational Systems
Saybrook’s Seattle campus offers a masters-level graduate program in Leadership & Organization Development (LOD) through the School of Organizational Leadership & Transformation (OLT). This program uses a blended model of face-to-face interaction and online learning. The LOD program offers you the additional opportunity to select a simultaneous career-track option in coaching or manufacturing engineering.
The LOD specialization combines systems thinking (managing processes) with leadership psychology (leading people). The faculty-to-student ratio is kept deliberately low: 1:15 in the first year,1:8 in the second to facilitate a high-degree of faculty contact. This program prepares you for a career as a manager, consultant, trainer, or executive coach.
The LOD program is compatible with:
- International Coach Federation requirements at the Associate Certified Coach level
- Society of Manufacturing Engineers' Bronze-level, Lean credential
Experiential Learning at Its Best
Face-to-face learning occurs through residential conferences throughout the year. There's a five-day conference at the start of each of the four semesters, followed by onsite Learning Labs held roughly every other weekend. Online learning, discussion, and teamwork supplement your face-to-face sessions. You'll learn to work together in teams in both educational and practical settings. The resulting community of learners engenders a unique learning experience that has produced skilled professionals dating back to the program's origin as the Leadership Institute of Seattle (LIOS) more than 40 years ago.

"Kate Butcher spent decades working in computers in the UK, preparing for her career with bachelor degrees in computer science and mathematics and an MBA. But she wanted more. "After 25 years working in large organizations, I was keen to do something different. I had a deep curiosity about people and psychology and wondered how I might combine my business background with this new interest." After graduating from the LOD program in 2012, Kate became the curriculum manager of Leadership Eastside, an organization whose mission is to develop and enrich leaders, engage volunteer facilitators and coaches, and enable others to become catalysts for community change. "I love my job! Having been through the experience [at LOD], I am able to help others through their journey."
