Welcome to Saybrook Graduate School!
This page is designed to give you the administrative tools you will need to successfully undertake non-degree coursework at
Saybrook Graduate School. Please read through the information carefully and don't hesitate to contact your
Enrollment Services Coordinator if you have any questions or
concerns not addressed on this web page.
The Individually Mentored Instruction Format
Your instruction will take place in a one-on-one format between you and your instructor. Contact and academic feedback can
be through email exchanges or by telephone, but you must submit your coursework to the instructor via email unless otherwise
requested. While this method of instruction fosters a close relationship between you and your instructor, it is incumbent
upon you to initiate contact and begin working on the course!
The Individually Mentored Instruction Format is largely self paced, and because of other academic obligations, your instructor
will be primarily reactive to your pace and initiative in communication and coursework. Please refer to
Faculty/Staff Resources and Support below to learn how to contact your instructor.
Learning Guides
The Learning Guide for your course is the roadmap and administrative resource for completing your course. Downloading a copy of
the Learning Guide for your course should be the first item on your agenda, as you cannot navigate your way through a course
without knowing what materials you will need, what assignments are expected of you, etc. In a nutshell, the Learning Guide
for your course is the course. To download a copy of your course, log into the Saybrook Graduate School
website with your username and password. Once you have logged in, click on "Learning Guides" in the column of resources on the left side of
the page, then scroll to your course and download the Word document. If your computer does not support Microsoft Word, you may
simply click on the course title and view the Learning Guide in its entirety on the website, itself.

Course Books, Texts, and Readers
While you may use any commercial resource to purchase your course material, the Stanford Bookstore
is contracted with Saybrook Graduate School and carries all our course material.
SMS (Saybrook Management System)
SMS is the primary records and registration database for Saybrook Graduate School. Full-time, degree seeking students use the system
for course registration, contact info management, etc. As a non-degree student, your course has been, and can only be registered
(and dropped) through the Office of the Registrar. While you do not have full interactive access in SMS, you may find it useful to
view your active course there, monitor its completion when the instructor submits an evaluation, view the evaluation itself, and
submit course/instructor quality evaluations. To access SMS, click here and
log in using your username and password.

Faculty/Staff Resources and Support
You can find your instructor in the Faculty Directory on the Saybrook Graduate School website. Your
Enrollment Services Coordinator is your primary point of administrative
contact. We encourage you to contact your Enrollment Services Coordinator
if you have any difficulty with, or questions about, our administrative processes. You may also consult the Staff Directory for a full
listing of staff contact info.
Current Academic Calendar
While the Individualized Instruction format is largely self paced, you must complete the course in one semester. Please familiarize yourself with the current academic calendar. Pay particular attention to the coursework deadline!
