Background and Description:

The Graduate College of Mind-Body Medicine (MBM) is the first accredited graduate program offering MS and Ph.D. degrees in Mind-Body Medicine. The College of MBM provides Master's and Doctoral students the opportunity to participate in the transformation of healthcare through performing cutting edge research, enhancing clinical practice, and developing innovative and integrative models of healthcare education and healthcare delivery.

Reporting to the Program Chair and working in close collaboration with the Associate Dean and the Director of Instructional Excellence, the .5 FTE Practicum Coordinator/Teaching Faculty will play a lead role in developing and advancing the mission of the college during a period of rapid development and growth.

This position is a teaching faculty (.50 FTE) position.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching Faculty:

  • Design new courses as needed using the standards and best practices identified in the College of Mind-Body Medicine faculty orientation guide.
  • instruct courses at 0.50 FTE level, for a workload of 150 credits per year.
  • Develop and facilitate on-site residential conference intensives (as required by coursework).
  • Serve as a role model and mentor of faculty for onsite and distance teaching, the use of instructional technology, online course facilitation, and professionalism.
  • PhD Dissertation and MS Thesis/Project committee chair and/or reader

Practicum Coordinator:

  • Develop, implement, and facilitate 8-week practicum course.
  • Provide preparation meetings monthly with students who will be enrolled in practicum course within six months.
  • Provide weekly supervision sessions to students during the practicum course.
  • Work with students to resolve administration issues and coach them as needed to support them in making satisfactory progress in the practicum course.
  • Network with and identify possible practicum placement locations.
  • Coordinate on-site supervision of student practicum experience including management of appropriate paperwork.

Governance:

  • Participate in college-level and university-level committees and governance.
  • Participate in creation of policy and structures that enhance the facilitation of learning within the college.
  • Assist with recruitment and selection of faculty.
  • Participate in recruitment of prospective students.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • A doctoral degree in a health or mental health field, with relevant professional experience in mind-body medicine and integrative health care.

Experience:

  • Experience in coordinating graduate level practicum.
  • 3 years of graduate level teaching experience
  • Experience with in-person and online course facilitation.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Personal and professional experience with Mind-Body Medicine modalities or integrative medicine.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead complex projects.
  • High level of enthusiasm and commitment to the vision of transforming healthcare.
  • Aptitude for online technology and ability to engage students using the MBM interactive teaching model.
  • Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a creative, dynamic, distributed and growing college.
  • Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation.
