Saybrook Students & Alumni to Contribute to Fetzer Institute Supported Research Initative

Saybrook students and alumni will have the opportunity to contribute research to the Powers of Place Collaborative (PoPC), an 18-month initiative supported by the Fetzer Institute, working in partnership with Berkana Institute. The PoPC is “a partnership of individuals, organizations, and sites catalyzing a new field of study and practice based on the premise that right relationship between people and the places in which they gather offers the potential for transformative action toward what is needed at this moment in history.” Place – the physical surroundings in which people gather – can be a powerful ally for change in the world, but is often overlooked and undervalued as a partner. This new venture hopes to make this component more visible and to understand how true reciprocity between people and the places they inhabit contributes to places coming alive.

The PoPC research effort is headed by Renee Levi, PhD, an alumna of Saybrook’s Organizational Systems program who participated in conducting the groundwork for PoPC’s creation. Students and alumni will have the opportunity to conduct research in various aspects of this emerging field, will be encouraged to define their own area of interest within the umbrella of the project, and will be linked with others exploring similar interests.
