Student learning occurs through independent work at a distance, personal engagement as members of a learning community, and face-to-face learning in a variety of residential formats.
Faculty mentoring is the hallmark of the Saybrook University learning model. Whether working individually or with a group of students, faculty are dedicated to facilitating an intellectual dialogue with students. Students can also work with a faculty member to tailor coursework to their particular interests and professional goals.
New students enrolling in the Saybrook University Colleges begin their degree program with a residential learning experience to introduce them to the Saybrook community and begin building relationships among students and faculty members.
All degree programs have residency requirements. The frequency of these varies by program. Residential learning provides continuity and opportunities to reconnect in person with the community of faculty and students in support of both academic and professional objectives.
Students are encouraged to bring their own individual experiences and worlds into their learning to enrich their professional development and to connect meaningfully to their studies and their relevance to real world settings.
Saybrook University is a learning institution committed to the highest quality of graduate education, and regular assessments and reviews of degree programs are undertaken to sustain and enhance the quality of our programs, student learning, and the student experience. These assessments are grounded in our commitment to our mission, values, and learning goals and the standards promulgated by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
