In addition to being a Saybrook University faculty member, Nancy Southern is a steward for the Bay Area Society for Organizational Learning network, where she works to connect people interested in systems thinking and transformative approaches to leadership and change. Nancy teaches graduate courses in organizational culture, systemic change, leadership, and transformational learning.
Mara Zabari is the director of women’s and children’s services at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center in Kirkland, Washington. Having worked in the healthcare sector for 15 years, Mara leads strategic planning, program development, and small and large organizational change efforts. She has taught leadership, systems thinking, and organizational change at both Oregon Health Sciences University and The Vermont Oxford.
Their session will focus on:
- How to utilize systems thinking and tools in daily leadership activities.
- Specific practices that foster system-wide transformation.
- Tools to engage others in identifying contradictory behaviors, competing commitments, assumptions, and strategies for testing assumptions
