Kent Becker, Ed.D. serves as Dean of the College of Social Sciences at Saybrook University. Prior to serving in this capacity, Dr. Becker served as Director for the Department of Counseling. Before working at Saybrook, he taught within the graduate counseling programs at the University of Wyoming for sixteen years. During this time Kent served as department chair for six years and doctoral program coordinator for twelve years. Over the years, Kent has taught a variety of courses including, Basic Counseling Skills, Group Counseling & Psychotherapy, RC Experientials, RC ProSeminars, Family Systems Theory, Structure & Dynamics of the Family, Couple and Family Counseling, Advanced Family Therapy, Counseling Ethics, Doctoral Seminars, Counseling Practicum and Supervised Internship.
Since 2006, Dr. Becker has been working with mental health consumers in a variety of communities. This work has included the use of photovoice as a research and advocacy tool helping individuals impacted by mental health challenges and the system to share their stories - through photographs and narratives. His photovoice work has also included working with communities in Canada and India.
Kent resides in Colorado with his family and their two dogs (and cats). Kent loves being outdoors with his camera in hand.
