Biography

Dr. Adam Duberstein is a Core Faculty member in the Humanistic Clinical Psychology Department at Saybrook University. His research focuses on several areas, including ethical issues and problems within psychology and psychotherapy; human-animal interaction; the psychology of endocrine conditions; issues of both emerging and late adulthood; the link between mental health and public policy; and teaching and learning in psychology. A qualitative researcher, he enjoys teaching and helping students to become excellent practitioners and scholars.

Adam is an active member of both the American Psychological Association (Divisions 12, 13, 29, 31, 32, 42, and Section 17-13) and the Michigan Psychological Association, where he is a member of the Licensure Committee. Prior to becoming a psychologist, Adam worked as a student affairs administrator and as a high school English teacher. In addition to his teaching responsibilities at Saybrook, Adam also has a small private psychology practice.

Dr. Duberstein holds both master's and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology. He has a master's degree in higher education and student affairs administration from The Ohio State University, and his bachelor's degree in English and psychology is from Earlham College.

In his free time, Adam can be found visiting with friends and family; exploring hiking trails with his dogs; playing board games; volunteering; reading; and listening to music of all kinds. He always welcomes new music suggestions.
