Dr. Amanuel Asfaw is a Counselor Educator and Supervisor in the Department of Counseling at Saybrook University. Dr. Asfaw teaches graduate counseling courses and engage in scholarly and community work. He teaches Substance Abuse Counseling, Group Counseling, and Relationship and Family Intervention courses. His research interests include substance abuse recovery, addictions counseling, counselor education best practices, and ethics in counseling.
Dr. Asfaw's mission is to educate, supervise, and mentor future counselors and counselor educators. He is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and is working towards his licensure to becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Dr. Asfaw is passionate about internationalization of counselor education and supervision, community outreach, and cultivating a culture of service seeking in Ethiopian immigrants in the US.
