Biography

Donald Moss, Ph.D., BCB, is Professor and Dean of the College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences, at Saybrook University, Pasadena, CA. There he has built training programs in biofeedback, clinical hypnosis, integrative mental health, integrative/functional nutrition, and integrative social work.

Dr. Moss is currently the education chair and president-elect for the Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH), ethics chair for the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, and a board member of Division 30 (hypnosis) of the American Psychological Association. He has served as president of Division 30, president of SCEH, and president of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB). For five years, he has served as co-convener for an international task force on standards and best practices for hypnosis research.

Moss is lead author of A Primer of Biofeedback (AAPB, 2022), co-editor of Evidenced Based Practice in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback (AAPB, in press), Mindfulness, Compassion, and Biofeedback Practice (AAPB, 2020), Physiological Recording Technology and Applications in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback (AAPB, 2019), and Foundations of Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback (AAPB, 2016). He is co-author with Angele McGrady of Integrative Pathways: Navigating Chronic Illness with a Mind-Body-Spirit Approach (Springer, 2018), and Pathways to Illness, Pathways to Health (Springer, 2013). He is chief editor of Handbook of Mind-Body Medicine for Primary Care (Sage, 2003), and Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychology (Greenwood, 1999), and has authored over 100 articles and book chapters.

Moss has a new book just released with Patrick Steffen on Integrating Psychotherapy and Psychophysiology (Oxford University Press, 2024). He also has a new book currently in layout, with Angele McGrady on Pathways through Long-Term Health Conditions: Lifestyle Medicine to Maximize Your Wellbeing (Pavilion, in press).

Moss is on the editorial board for the journals International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, the Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, and the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. He also regularly conducts peer reviews for the journals: International Journal of Psychophysiology, Annals of Palliative Medicine, OMB Integrative and Complementary Medicine, Global Advances in Health and Medicine, Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, and others.

Moss has provided lectures, workshops, and training programs on psychophysiology, integrative healthcare, and mind-body practices throughout the world, from Mexico to Rome to Nanjing to Cairo.
