Galen Ciscell, Ph.D., is a sociologist and educator whose work focuses on inequality, gender, culture, and the ways social structures shape everyday life. He has taught sociology and interdisciplinary courses for more than a decade, with an emphasis on helping students connect sociological ideas to their own experiences, communities, and professional goals. His teaching also includes writing, first-year student success, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
In addition to his academic work, Dr. Ciscell is interested in teaching and learning, game design, and the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in education. He brings an interdisciplinary and student-centered approach to mentoring, with particular attention to clear communication, critical thinking, and the practical application of research.
