Biography

Dr. Serafini is dually licensed as a Clinical Psychologist and a Substance Use Disorder Professional in Washington State. She received her PhD from Seattle Pacific University. She completed her internship at Yale School of Medicine, in which she completed a primary rotation at the Substance use and Addiction Treatment Unit (SATU). She completed her post-doctoral training at Yale School of Medicine through a NIDA-funded T-32 award. She then moved to Washington State and was a faculty member in Family Medicine. Currently, Dr. Serafini is an Associate Professor within the Humanistic Clinical Psychology program at Saybrook University.

Her clinical experience has focused on addiction, co-occurring disorders, and behavioral healthcare. She has provided clinical care in community mental health clinics, integrated primary care settings, and specialty addiction clinics. She has sought advanced training in Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, in addition to her interest and commitment to Humanistic Psychology.

Dr. Serafini is currently a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Division 32 of the APA (Humanistic Psychology) and Division 50 of the APA (Society of Addiction Psychology). She is also a member of the Washington State Psychological Association (WSPA) and the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT). She has also received certification as a Master Addiction Counselor through the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC)
