Melinda Rothouse, PhD, teaches in the Creativity, Innovation, and Leadership Specialization within the Humanistic Psychology program at Saybrook. Her academic interests include organizational and community-focused creativity and collaboration, depth psychology, meaning-making, expressive arts, and psychological development across the lifetime. She also chairs and serves on numerous dissertation committees, working closely with students to develop their research designs and academic writing skills. She holds a BA in biopsychology, master's degrees in religious studies and performance studies, and a Ph.D. in psychology with a specialization in creativity studies from Saybrook University. She is the author of the bestselling books Syncreate: A Guide to Navigating the Creative Process for Individuals, Organizations, and Communities and A Mindful Approach to Team Creativity and Collaboration in Organizations: Creating a Culture of Innovation, as well as several academic articles on the creative process, including in the Journal of Creativity, Possibility Studies and Society, and the Journal of Creativity and Inspiration.
Melinda is a creativity, career, and leadership development coach and consultant, as well as an educator, facilitator, and public speaker. She is the creator and host of The Syncreate Podcast: Empowering Creativity, which explores the intersections of creativity, psychology, and spirituality. She is also a singer, songwriter, and bass player with many years of training and experience as a performing musician. Her other creative pursuits include contemplative photography and writing. She is a longtime meditator and mindfulness practitioner teacher, and leads workshops and retreats in contemplative arts and creativity, both in the US and internationally.
